That would add to the shoulder/upper back aches, awkwardness in bending over, getting generally in the way when reaching for anything, make it harder to pick up groceries or children, etc. :)

And wow -- there's a market for it. Amazing. The one I think I'm most morbidly fascinated by is the "domestic violence prevention". Woah. Don't want to think too much about the possibilities there. :/ :)

Perhaps the Dispute Resolution Center here in the Valley could use some...Crisshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12365856266726316770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5949879076662253227.post-84483321181870577202007-04-23T13:52:00.000-05:002007-04-23T13:52:00.000-05:002007-04-23T13:52:00.000-05:00Criss - I was surprised by the breasts as well. People have suggested that when touched I should get pricked with a pin in the chest to simulate the sensitivity that develops.

The belly was designed by http://www.empathybelly.orgKevin Burkehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18230568937300850967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5949879076662253227.post-24844019522445949732007-04-22T09:32:00.000-05:002007-04-22T09:32:00.000-05:002007-04-22T09:32:00.000-05:00Hi, Kevin,I'm surprised at the actual complexity i...Hi, Kevin,

I'm surprised at the actual complexity integrated into the pregnancy suit. It's better than I thought. I thought it was just a lot of weight but the integration of water and weights, with components for different portions of the fetus -- that's pretty amazing.

You wouldn't be able to get a feel for exactly what I went through, but it's going to be closer than what I was thinking. Nothing like being poked in the rib by a foot for a month. My kids settled head-down and stayed there like they should, but my son had a tendency to turn his head in my pelvis a lot. There would be no simulation for that. Ouch!

Another thing that surprised me about it was that it came with breasts.

Who thought up this contraption? :) Did you design it, or is there a company that dreams up these real-life torture devices? How much of a market is there for people to simulate late pregnancy?

CrissCrisshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12365856266726316770noreply@blogger.com
